Nugget Treat Boxes Tutorial

Hey crafty friends,

Happy Wonderful Wednesday. I hope this day is going well for you. Today I am sharing the tutorial for the project I created Yesterday. Here is a picture of the project yesterday (with a different version).

Tutorial

To make the box, start with cutting your piece of cardstock to 8x10.5. Below is the template I designed. 

Per my template, cut out the red areas of the paper. 

You will want to score along the green lines. So to make it. Cut your paper to the size listed above.

Along the 10.5" side, Score along the following: 1.25, 2.5, 3.75 and 5" marks. HOWEVER, for the 5" mark, you want to only score up to the 1.25 in from each side of the 8" side.

On the 8" side, score at 1.25" and the 6.75" side which is the same as 1.25 from that side.

Last thing: Snip just a little from the flaps so that there is just a little wiggle room when you glue them together. You see that by the thin strip of light red at the end of each one.

Here is what it should look like when you have it cut and scored. Notice, the 5" score line really isn't across the main part. It is really to reference the measurement for the side tabs to cut out the larger sections.

Here is what the base looks like once it is folded up. This is the smaller base.

Here is a look at the finished larger sized box. 

Here is the larger nugget box template. Remember to snip just a little from the flaps so that there is just a little wiggle room when you glue the flaps together.

Here is a side view of the larger box before I closed up one of the sides. Here you can see that it is two rows of four on the bottom and the top.

Here is a view of the two treat boxes. You can see the size better.

Here is a different view from the top to show the size difference as well. 

The main difference is that the larger one equates to twice as big as the smaller. You can do 8 nuggets in the smaller one. Two rows of 4. One stacked on top of eachother.

The larger one allows for two rows of 4 with two rows stacked for a total of 16 nuggets.

CottageCutz Treat Bag

If you are need a cute treat bag to make, I've got one to share with you. When I saw the CottageCutz / Peachy Keen Shower Peepers die from The Scrapping Cottage, I knew what I wanted to make. I always think that shading my die cuts with distress ink adds so much more life to them - but on this little chick, I was having a hard time getting too much ink, so I added it a little different. I used my water pen, and picked up a little Scattered Straw ink for her body, and just a touch of Worn Lipstick for her cheeks. This gave me much more control, and a very light touch of ink. The face is so cute - it's a Peachy Keen stamp that comes with the set (actually you get three different faces so your little peeper can have different expressions).

If you want to make the gift bag, here's how:


The acrylic bubble that I used on the front of the bag is a Flower-Soft Display Globe, but you could also just use a flat piece of acrylic, and cut your opening to any size and shape that you would like.


Cut another strip of paper, 1" x 12" and attach to the sides for a handle. Use dimensional tape to attach your die cut.

Everything's coming up Poppies!

I love poppies! I have to say they are one of my favorite flowers, so I decided I needed to figure how to make one using my CottageCutz dies. I used the Pink Peony Flower for the petals and the stamen is from the Orchid Flower.



Step 1. Cut one base flower, 2 petal pieces and 3 stamens.


Step 2. Ink the petals. I used Distress Ink ( Spiced Marmalade, Barn Door and Black Soot).


Step 3. Cut into the base flower to form four separate petals (but don't cut all the way through). Cut the end off of the stamens, so you just have a tip with three balls.



Step 4. Shape the parts with a flower shaping tool or ball stylus.


Step 5. Assemble the flower. Add a little Flower Soft in Sage Green for the centers.



Here's a layout that I made using some of the poppies. This is a picture of my nephew at the Land of Oz festival with the Wicked Witch. The quote says, " And now my beauties, something with poison in it. Poppies...poppies. Poppies will put them to sleep." ~ Wicked Witch of the West
